随着世界人口老龄化的增加，阿尔兹海默症，俗称老年痴呆，近年来越来越多的引起了人们关注，也已成为一个全球性的难题和无数家庭的负担。而关于这种疾病致病机制的研究，也成为科学领域不断努力探索和解决的课题。其中，淀粉样蛋白——Aβ的积累，是较为公认的该疾病发生的起始事件，并为这种疾病的初期诊断提供了依据。近期《NATURE》封面文章揭示的Aβ抗体对阿尔兹海默症的治疗作用，进一步有力证实了这种发病假说。
