新特提斯洋是位于劳亚大陆与冈瓦纳大陆之间的一个向东开口的海湾状大洋，主要存在于中生代，局部跨越晚古生代到早新生代。其复杂的构造演化过程导致欧亚大陆南缘特提斯构造域的形成（图1）。新特提斯构造域是全球最重要的金属矿产和油气等资源能源战略要地。因此，对新特提斯构造域形成和演化历史进行深入研究，既具有重要的科学意义又是国家战略需求。
