南开大学新闻网2005年9月2日讯 近日，南开大学现代光学研究所所长母国光教授赴美参加国际光学工程学会（SPIE）50周年年会，捧回了“光学科学与工程SPIE教育奖”。此奖项用以表彰南开大学在光学、光子学及相关领域的有潜力的长期贡献。
2005年5月15 日，南开大学母国光教授收到了来自国际光学工程学会SPIE（The International Society for Optical Engineering）主席的来信，告知我校现代光学研究所获得2005年度SPIE教育基金奖。本次评选由SPIE学术委员会从496个候选者中评选出19个教学机构获得此项奖励。SPIE将于2005年8月初在SPIE第50届年会上举行颁奖仪式。
