对研究区域进行层次剖分是建立该区域层次多分辨率高程模型的基础。为了建立全球多尺度数据高程模型，本文在分析球面剖分的基础上，发展了一种基于四元三角格网（QTM）的WGS84椭球面层次剖分方法，作为构建全球多分辨率高程模型的基础；并计算分析了剖分格网的面积和边长变化情况。该格网近似规则，且具有层次嵌套等特性，能够满足全球地多分辨率数据高程建模的需求。
