据物理学家组织网2013年10月14日报道，中美科学家携手合作，为未来的电子设备研发出一类名为拓扑绝缘体（TI）的电导体。该研究团队报告称，他们在一个超高真空腔内，分别在砷化镓（GaAs）粗糙和光滑的表面，种植出了两类拓扑绝缘体材料，并对它们输送电子的能力进行了评估。相关研究发表在最新一期的美国物理联合会学术期刊AIP Advances上。
2006年4月24日，国际著名拓扑学专家、俄罗斯莫斯科国立大学力学数学系A.S. Mishchenko教授应邀来哈尔滨工业大学深圳研究生院访问，金广君常务副院长、胡泓副院长以及基础科学、城市与土木、计算机学科部的部分教师与Mishchenko教授进行了会谈。
