塔里木大学动物科技学院正式成立于1998年6月，学院建立六个学科组（动物营养学科组、预防兽医学科组、普通病学科组、动物形态学科组、生理生化学科组、动物遗传育种学科组）。自建校以来，学院已培养了本专科毕业生26届，总计2000余人；1982年授予农学学士以来，已获得学士学位的学生1400余人。

台湾嘉义大学动物科学系前身最早在嘉义高级农业职业学校的学制下，于民国四十一年八月设立畜牧兽医科，民国九十三年八月一日起，为因应社会脉动及配合英文名称，畜产学系将正名为「动物科学系」，台湾嘉义大学动物科学系现有专任教授七位，副教授七位，讲师五位，其中博士十二位，硕士六位，学士一位；博士班进修中二位。
