经中国物理学会核物理分会中高能核物理专业委员会讨论决定，于2017年5月5～9日在湖北宜昌举行第十七届全国中高能核物理大会暨第十一届全国中高能核物理专题研讨会。受中国中高能核物理专业委员会委托，本次会议由三峡大学承办。
2016年初，LIGO威名赫赫，传遍世界，人类借助它首次在实验中观测到了“引力波”，并且借此掀起了又一轮对宇宙探索的热潮。时至今日，虽然已经过去了一年之久，但是其音袅袅，依旧不绝于耳。2017年3月21日，诺贝尔奖获得者Smoot先生在南京大学物理学院针对这个问题，做了一场题为“宇宙学研究现状”的报告，精彩纷呈。
2016年是北京正负电子对撞机重大改造工程（BEPCII）的丰收年，对撞亮度达到设计指标1×10^33/cm^2/s。与此同时，BEPCII又面临着艰巨的对撞取数任务。为顺利完成目标，3月9日，中科院中国科学院高能物理研究所加速器中心召开2017年BEPCII积分亮度提高研讨会。
