西南大学历史文化学院、民族学院位于西南大学荟文楼左侧，目前开设有历史学、民族学两个本科专业。学院拥有历史地理学博士学位授权点，史学理论及史学史、考古学及博物馆学、历史地理学、历史文献学、专门史、中国古代史、中国近现代史、世界史、中国少数民族史、民族学等10个硕士学位授权点，历史地理、世界史和中国少数民族史三个重庆市重点学科，是目前西南地区唯一的历史教育硕士（含高师硕士）培养授权单位。
