核物理与离子束应用教育部重点实验室建立于1990年，原名“基于加速器的原子物理实验室”，1998年更名为“应用离子束物理实验室”。2016年根据实验室定位和学科方向调整，建立“核物理与离子束应用实验室”。现任实验室主任黄焕中教授，学术委员会主任为胡思得院士。实验室现有固定人员71人，其中研究人员49人，工程技术人员16人，管理人员6人。
